Abstract

Labuan Bajo is one of the areas designated as a National Strategic Tourism Area (KSPN) as a recent breakthrough by the government to develop the Labuan Bajo tourist destination. One of the supporting facilities is the construction of a viewing deck structure on the Soekarno-Hatta Road section in Labuan Bajo, NTT. In the construction of the viewing deck structure, several aspects need to be considered in the structural planning. The viewing deck structure consists of the superstructure, namely slab, column, and beam, and the substructure, namely the foundation. This research is an analytical study addressing the issue of bore pile foundation bearing capacity as the substructure of the Labuan Bajo viewing deck structure. Soil investigation data uses Standard Penetration Test (SPT) data. The bearing capacity calculation uses the Meyerhof method and the Reese & Wright method. Based on the analysis results and bearing capacity calculations with a foundation depth of 6 m and a pile diameter of 0.6 m, the bearing capacity based on the Meyerhof method is 56.8 tons, while for the Reese & Wright method it is 38.78 tons, which is the allowable load (Q_allowed) for each single pile. Based on the Reese and Wright bearing capacity calculation, the single pile foundation bearing capacity does not meet the requirements to support the superstructure load where Q_allowed < P, with P being the superstructure load of 42.83 tons. The bearing capacity does not meet the requirements due to negative skin friction in cohesive soil. Based on the Reese & Wright bearing capacity calculation, one pile alone is not sufficient to support the existing load, so pile group efficiency needs to be considered. Based on the pile group efficiency calculation using two piles with the Converse-Labarre method is 74.5 tons, while for the Los Angeles Group method it is 65.92 tons. Based on the pile group bearing capacity calculation, the foundation is safe in supporting the superstructure load.
